Hayes Graphics Embellishments
We can offer Spot UV or foiling on business cards, flyers, folded leaflets, presentation folders, greetings cards, invites, and booklet covers (stapled and perfect bound). Just remember, in order to use these beautiful embellishments, you need matt lamination on your print too!
Low-Build Spot UV
Let’s start with low-build Spot UV! Low-build essentially means flat in this case. You can highlight elements of your design with a shiny, glossy coat but there will be no bump. It’s a more subtle way to take your print up a level but still very noticeable when it catches the light.
We recommend low-build Spot UV for book covers and presentation folders, where people aren’t necessarily going to be running their fingers over the print so much.
Low-build is also great for creating blind Spot UV patterns i.e. where the background colour doesn’t change behind the Spot UV. This kind of design choice is perfect if your are wanting a sophisticated, understated kind of elegance.
High-Build Spot UV
Our other form of Spot UV is, of course, the high-build option. This is where you do get that classic bump as the gloss coating is raised a little over the artwork. It still catches the light but it also creates a tangible texture to your print.
The ‘touchable’ nature of this finish makes any print with high-build Spot UV really memorable. Humans generally like to engage our senses, the more the better! A business card or flyer with high-build Spot UV is therefore going to stand out much more than a flat piece of card.
Use this option to highlight important information on your print, such as your business name and contact details. Or, you could take advantage of its texture-creating qualities to mimic a snake-skin pattern, or circuit board pattern etc…
Foiling
Finally, we have foiling. Just like Spot UV, foiling is about enhancing specific areas of your design. The way foiling can highlight your design is very different though. Just like applying gold leaf to a piece of furniture, foiling is a fantastic way to add luxury and decadence to your client’s print.
With foiling, you also get a choice of colour. At Hayes Graphics, our foiled colour range is expanding all the time and we can currently offer you eight different colours! Choose from gold, silver, bronze, copper, red, green, blue, and holographic for your next print order.
